Tesla Model Y Sunroof Materials And Features

The Tesla Model Y sunroof features core performance attributes such as high safety, superior sun protection, and intelligent dimming capabilities. Its design excels in terms of visual clarity, UV filtration, and structural integrity, though its ventilation functionality varies depending on the specific model year.

 

The sunroof employs a "double-layer tempered glass + PVB interlayer" sandwich structure, offering exceptional impact resistance. It is capable of withstanding approximately 9.6 tons of pressure-far exceeding the strength of standard metal vehicle roofs.


Even in the event of glass breakage, the PVB interlayer holds the fragments together in a mesh-like pattern, preventing shards from scattering and causing injury, thereby ensuring occupant safety.


Equipped with a central reinforcing crossbeam, the structure's overall strength is six times that required by national safety standards, thereby enhancing both body rigidity and crash safety.

 

Ultraviolet (UV) Rejection Rate: Over 99% (some sources cite figures as high as 99.3%, or even approaching 100%).


Infrared (IR) Rejection Rates vary depending on the specific configuration:
The silver-coated, tinted glass version achieves a rejection rate of up to 98.8%, significantly reducing heat buildup within the cabin;
The standard double-coated glass version offers a rejection rate of approximately 85% to 97%, which remains superior to that of most traditional sunroofs.
